Our Commitment to Sustainability

With this Non-financial Statement, Beiersdorf provides transparent information on its material sustainability matters. For the fiscal year 2025, we report partially in accordance with the “European Sustainability Reporting Standards” (ESRS) in preparation for the “Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive” (CSRD). Through our Double Materiality Assessment, we identified material impacts, risks and opportunities (IROs), resulting in the disclosure of all ESRS standards.

Consumer Business Segment reached its first climate target of a 33% reduction in absolute Scope 1, 2 & 3 greenhouse gas emissions.

Own Workforce Target Achieved

Since 2023, leadership positions worldwide have been balanced between women and men.

In 2025,

  • 52.3% of leadership positions (management groups 1–4) worldwide were held by women.
  • women make up 58% of the Supervisory Board and 50% of the Executive Board.
  • the Group received the “Women‑on‑Board Award” and its third “Green Envelope” from the “AllBright Foundation”.

Women in Circularity

Resource Use and Circular Economy

Our “Women in Circularity” program helps tackle the global issues of plastic pollution and social inequality by strengthening local recycling infrastructures and by creating income and development opportunities for 1,600+ women working in the waste sector in emerging economies. In 2025, 4 new projects in Peru, South Africa, Indonesia, and the Philippines kicked off the second program phase.

Setting a New Transparency Standard for the Cosmetic Industry: “EcoBeautyScore” Launch in 2025

Consumers and End-Users

As part of a global coalition, Beiersdorf launched the “EcoBeautyScore”, a new industry-wide rating system which makes the environmental impact of cosmetic products visible.

  • 99% of NIVEA Face Care products received A and B scores.2
  • 100% of Eucerin Face Care products achieved A and B scores.

Further Implementation of Advanced Water Recovery Technologies

Water

Since 2023, we have introduced solutions such as closed-circuit reverse osmosis (CCRO), and closed-loop water systems at selected production sites. These technologies help to maximize water reuse and reduce freshwater dependency.

Expanding Certification in Palm Oil Supply Chain

Affected Communities Target Achieved

In 2025, we successfully concluded the second phase of our palm oil project in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Working with the WWF and Evonik, we supported 201 smallholders in certifying their land under “Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil” (RSPO) and obtaining direct access to a mill. A total of 357 hectares of plantation area are now RSPO-certified.

Supplier Engagement in Our Shea Supply Chain

Workers in the Value Chain

5+ years of collaboration with our supplier AAK for advancing economic empowerment for shea-collecting women while improving environmental impact:

  • 10,500 women shea collectors reached with trainings to strengthen financial skills and business knowledge.
  • 12,103 cookstoves built – reducing firewood use, CO2e emissions, smoke inhalation, and water needs in shea processing.

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is an EU directive that requires companies to produce more comprehensive and standardized reports on their sustainability performance, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects.
ESRS – European Sustainability Reporting Standards
The European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) are a set of binding reporting standards developed under the CSRD to help companies uniformly and thoroughly disclose their sustainability information in the areas of environmental, social, and governance (ESG).
